In designing a habitat for English Ivy, I wanted to create a way for a person to incorporate the vine through an interior space in a controlled and individual way. For inspiration, I looked to kids toys like Tinker Toys and Kinex and a product called Algue by furniture design company Vitra.
With seven standard pieces, I created a system that allows the user a great degree of control to design the form of the construction in order to accomodate their unique interior space and inspire creative solutions.
The pieces were also designed around the functional needs of the vine, including water, light, and keeping the ivy contained while accomodating its free spirit.
